A Sri Lankan trade delegation will visit Karachi in October 2012 to participate in the biggest trade fair in Pakistan, Expo Pakistan in Karachi, Sri Lanka Consul General in Karachi, DW Jinadasa has said.
Sri Lanka, which will have pavilion at the expo, intends to improve bilateral trade exploiting the vast potential that exists between the two countries for increased trade.
“We are planning to have interactive promotion sessions with Pakistani business community, investors, traders, industrialists to let them aware of what is available in Sri Lanka. We are looking closely at government, private sector trade associations and others to improve bilateral trade,” the Consul General has said.
Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has recently said that the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has the potential to increase much more than the current volume of US$ 400 million.
Jinadasa has said that both countries have inked a framework agreement few years ago and working to further improve bilateral trade.
He has said that the business community needs to explore available opportunities. During the last few years, lot of new products, services entered into each other’s markets which need to be capitalized to expand bilateral trade.
