Myanmar drew $57 million’ foreign investment in July this year, hitting $41.086 billion as of the end of the month since late 1988 when the country opened to such investment, local media reported Friday.

The foreign investment stood $41.029 billion as of June, said the Weekly Eleven News.

In July, the 57 million dollars, injected into the sectors of manufacturing and agriculture, mainly came from South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Canada.

Over the past two months, businessmen from the United States and other Western countries visited Myanmar to explore business opportunities and gather information on the government’s economic programs.

Meanwhile, Myanmar’s new foreign investment law is under hot discussion in the ongoing parliament session in Nay Pyi Taw, involving the House’s committee, commission, entrepreneurs and scholars.
